Premier Li Keqiang met with Indonesian Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi at Zhongnanhai in Beijing on Feb 9.
According to the Premier, China and Indonesia, as two major developing countries and neighbors separated by sea, share extensive common interests in safeguarding regional peace and promoting common development. Both economies are highly complementary and enjoy huge potential for economic and trade cooperation.
China attaches great importance to developing relations with Indonesia, said the Premier, adding that China stands ready to maintain close high-level exchanges with the country, better align the Belt and Road Initiative with Indonesia’s development strategy, and bring about more benefits from cooperation in infrastructure and other key fields, in order to inject new impetus into China-Indonesia relations.
The Premier also said that with the 15th anniversary of China-ASEAN strategic partnership, China is ready to join Indonesia and other ASEAN partners in pushing China-ASEAN relations to a higher level and contribute to the peace, stability, development and prosperity in the region.

Marsudi said the relationship between the two countries has achieved substantial progress with effective cooperation in various areas. Indonesia is willing to work with China to expand economic and trade cooperation, increase high-level reciprocal visits and people-to-people exchanges, and advance the Jakarta-Bandung high-speed railway project. He said he welcomes China’s participation in the construction of an integrated economic corridor involving three Indonesian provinces.
